Free Gender and Inclusion Toolbox: Participatory Research in Climate Change and Agriculture

This toolbox was guided by the valuable feedback and recommendations of key practitioners, scientists and subject experts at Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), the CGIAR and many local development partners. They also benefited greatly from the many workshops, co-design events, farmer reflections, and testing sessions during the development of this toolbox.

Climate change is a social issue. As the world moves towards climate smart responses that bridge food security, resilience and mitigation of green house gasses (GHGs), practitioners and researchers face the challenge of doing so through socially relevant and gender-sensitive approaches.

The objective of the Toolbox is to support programme designers and field practitioners in doing gender sensitive and socially inclusive research. The toolbox is divided into four main parts and includes

The Toolbox is in modular format, and each activity can be used on its own or sequentially according to the user’s needs.
