The Toolkit was developed to assist the South African corporate sector to engage more effectively with HIV/AIDS affected children, following Save the Children’s survey with large South African companies of current practice in addressing the issues facing children affected by HIV/AIDS.
It is recognised that the practice and examples are drawn mainly from the experience of large companies often operating in urban areas, although where possible rural experiences have been sought.
The Toolkit does not include guidance on current national employment practice and legislation – references to these are given in the tool entitled Resources and Contacts.

- THINKER presents the facts to inform corporate thinking in respect of children affected by HIV/AIDS, globally and in South Africa.
- ANALYST makes the case for corporate engagement with children affected by HIV/AIDS.
- NAVIGATOR offers a roadmap for corporate engagement with children affected by HIV/AIDS.

- LEADER identifies critical areas where corporate leadership can drive change regarding company engagement with affected children.
- MOBILISER suggests ways to internalise, mainstream and integrate HIV/AIDS affected children into existing company policy and activities.
- PROVIDER identifies how companies can support affected children within a broad corporate citizenship framework.
- PARTNER is a guide to developing partnerships that will benefit affected children.
- REPORTER provides a framework for measuring and reporting the impact of company interventions for affected children.
